Research Interests
Nicole holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida. She is a geographer who works on environmental justice, hazard mitigation, and community recovery. She analyzes demographic shifts, land use patterns, and organizational effectiveness in post-disaster settings. Nicole currently researches sea level rise, recurrent flooding and hurricane mitigation in the United States. Her previous research examined resilience-building strategies of interagency connections in New Zealand. Her work appears in the Professional Geographer, the Journal of Flood Risk Management, Third Sector Review, and Papers in Applied Geography.
