Rob Gies, who oversees the new Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) office at 98ÌÃ, also serves as the NNS Engineering Professional in Residence at 98ÌÃ.
Gies, an associate technical fellow at NNS, has 35Â years of experience as an engineer, engineering manager and program manager. He is also an 98ÌÃ adjunct faculty member with the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering.
He is a triple graduate of 98ÌÃ, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a master’s degree in Engineering Management, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering.Â
In his role at NNS, he supports students across engineering, business, technology, and modeling and simulation programs. His office, located on the second floor of 98ÌÃ’s Engineering Systems Building, provides a direct connection between students and NNS for professional development and mentoring opportunities.
